Why we have to care about DEHP?

DEHP is one restricted phthalate and phthalates are used chemicals to be added to plastics during manufacturing to make them flexible.
DEHP is a colourless liquid with almost no odour and could be found in plastic products (PVC) such as
-- wall coverings,
-- tablecloths,
-  floor tiles,
-- furniture upholstery,
-- shower curtains,
-- garden hoses
-- swimming pool liners,
-- rainwear and baby pants
-- dolls and some toys,
-- shoes,
-- automobile upholstery and tops
-- packaging film and sheets
-- sheathing of wire and cable
-- medical tubing
-- blood storage bags.

The phthalates are limited to 0.1% of its specific material weight outlined in Directive 99/815/EC.

Why we have to care about DEHP?

does apply to the directive to limit the phthalates, DEHP, DBP, BBP for toys.

For DINP, DIDP and DNOP the limits apply especial for toys which can be placed in the mouth of children.

More and more consumer organizations in the EU also raised the demands that DEHP is not existent in hand tools and other consumer products as well.
